apparently, libgdal in ubuntu 8.10 has a bug which causes QLandkarte GT to crash with a segfault. fortunately, there is a fixed lib available on launchpad, simply add this to your sources.list: # libgdal for qlandkarte-gt deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/qgis/ubuntu intrepid main
